Church leaders said construction was delayed because of internal transition within the diocese, including Malloy’s arrival. The architect was forced to put the completion of the drawings on hold.
Geary doesn’t believe this setback will hurt the overall project. He said he will continue talking with city staff and council members about working together to complete the renovations.
“I’m thankful to the city and the bishop and to the parishioners who have been supportive and incredibly generous and patient as we try to build something beautiful for God,” he said.
