Sisters to meet with Sartain: Won’t be cowed by Vatican

 

 

Seattle Archbishop J. Peter Sartain will meet in St. Louis on Sunday with leaders of America’s largest organization of Catholic nuns, who say they want to talk but will not compromise in the face of a Vatican-ordered crackdown.

Seattle-area Catholics will be marching from Capitol Hill to St. James Cathedral in a “Support the Sisters” demonstration at the very hour that Archbishop Sartain is meeting with the Leadership Council of Women Religious….

But the Vatican shows increasing impatience with dissent, and recently has appointed authoritarian and strongly orthodox archbishops to the Philadelphia, Baltimore, Denver and San Francisco archdioceses.
