PRESS RELEASE
FEBRUARY 10, 2012
Bishop says President’s Announcement on HHS needs further review
ROCKFORD, IL—Following the announcement by President Barack Obama this morning, during a White House press conference regarding the Department of Health and Human Services Mandate on Contraception and Preventative Services, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Rockford, Thomas G. Doran, made the following statement:

“The president seems wise to re-examine this issue stated in the mandate from the Department of Health and Human Services. It remains for the leadership of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to articulate a response and instruct us as to whether this announcement by President Obama is acceptable. At first it appears that this is still material co-operation with evil. The whole question must be submitted to further rigorous examination by each bishop and the USCCB. “
