Several times I have made the statement that the eleven county Diocese of Rockford has not built a church in either the Romanesque or Gothic style since St. Peter’s Cathedral in Rockford, dedicated in 1960. These massive structures are relics of another era to be loved and appreciated but because of costs of construction and operation costs not be built again.
